Cardinal CSD 6th Grade Teacher, Mr. Z

posted August 25, 2022

JR Zeitler is joining the Cardinal team this year to teach 6th grade math and social studies. We are excited to welcome Mr. Zeitler to our district! We asked him some questions so you could get to know him a bit as the school year begins.

Why did you want to teach at Cardinal?
I wanted to teach 6th grade and Cardinal was the perfect fit for me!

How long have you been teaching?
This is my first year of teaching.

What do you like about teaching 6th grade?
6th graders can be old enough to have a mature conversation if needed, but then five minutes later we can go outside and play tag like kids. It's the perfect mix of old and young all in one.

What is your favorite part of being a teacher?
My favorite part of being a teacher is the ability to see these kids grow in so many ways. It is amazing how much they grow up in such a little time.

What is your ultimate goal as a teacher?
My ultimate goal is to be the best possible male role model that I can be for these students in a very crucial time of change in their lives.

What do you hope students take away from your class this year?
I hope they are able to of course learn the content that I am teaching. But more importantly, I want these kids to learn what they can do to be a positive light in their families, communities, and with their peers.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
Along with teaching 6th grade, I will also be coaching Cardinal football at the high school level!

Some of my favorite hobbies include watching Iowa State basketball and football, cooking, and attending Central College football games.

The mission of the Cardinal Community School is to foster an enriching environment and channel the energies of students to achieve their fullest potential.
