Back in March, we announced James Craig as our next Cardinal CSD superintendent. Now you can get to know him even better as we kick off the school year with our new staff member profiles!

Why did you want to work at Cardinal?
Cardinal is an innovative district with a family feel and a lot of solid values important to a quality work environment. The staff is top-notch, and I look forward to interacting with the students. Go, Comets!

How long have you been in education?
I have been in education for 25 years. I spent 17 years teaching instrumental music and eight years in administration.

What is your favorite part of working in education?
As a servant leader, I greatly enjoy being involved in all aspects of helping staff and students find their success. My favorite part is sharing my love of learning and watching the "aha" moments when things click.

What is your ultimate goal as superintendent?
To help each student and staff member find their success and achieve at and above their potential.

What do you want to achieve this year?
I look forward to working with staff and students on academic excellence in the second year of a new school calendar. I also look forward to listening and learning so I can understand what makes Cardinal special and what people need to continue to want to work and learn in our district.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
Wife: Mandy
Children: Ellie (10th), Macy (8th), Hadleigh (K)
Dogs: Millie and Ollie (Australian shepherds)
I enjoy playing with my kids, golf, reading and working to continually be a lifelong learner.

From our first interaction with the staff at Cardinal schools, we felt at home. The entire staff is amazing and we feel that we have a trusted partner in our children’s education. The greatest testament to their success is that our kids love going to school. There is nothing more welcoming as a parent than to have a school that you trust to take care of the most precious thing in your life. Cardinal School District does just that.
