We're starting the year off with a fresh start for our football program! Rich Mayson, previously our offensive coordinator for the past two years, is stepping in as Cardinal’s new football coach.
“Rich has been a part of the staff that has helped change the culture of Cardinal Football,” Chris Becker, Cardinal activities director, said. “He has a great work ethic and relationship with his players.”
Mayson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role. He is a graduate of Truman State University, where he played football and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History. Mayson continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University to earn a Master’s in Athletic Administration. Before coaching at Cardinal, Mayson coached at Iowa Western Community College, and he was a head football coach for Ottumwa High School.
“Rich brings experience and leadership that is capable of continuing to move the Cardinal Football program forward for years to come,” Becker said.
Off the field, Mayson has a great supporting cast at home. He is a proud husband to wife Kristin and father to three daughters, Jordi, Stella and Tyler.
