Why Cardinal Preschool?
Play-Based Learning
Our curriculum is centered around play-based and hands-on learning, fostering creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking.
Engaging Curriculum & Kindergarten-Ready Skills
We incorporate age-appropriate literacy, math, science, and art activities to encourage a love for learning with a focus on social-emotional skills, too! The preschool curriculum focuses on early literacy, math, problem-solving, and fine motor skills, ensuring children are well-prepared for Kindergarten academics.
Social & Emotional Development
Through our preschool program, children learn to take turns, follow directions, work in groups, and express their emotions — critical skills for Kindergarten success. We emphasize social skills, emotional intelligence, and independence, helping children build strong foundations for lifelong learning.
"Fostering strong social-emotional skills in our early learners is essential for their overall development and lifelong learning," says Aimee Sivak, director of early childhood. "We prioritize these skills equally with other important areas such as literacy and math development. Our approach is kid-friendly, hands-on, and emphasizes family partnership, ensuring that everyone is involved in the learning process. We strive to create peak moments of engagement and build trust with families, assuring them that we have their child's best interests at heart in our planning and program development."
Experienced, Caring Educators & Small Class Sizes
Our teachers are fully licensed and highly trained in early childhood education and create a nurturing, supportive environment with great experience. We keep our class sizes small to ensure personalized attention and meaningful interactions.
Outdoor & Gross Motor Play
Daily outdoor time and movement activities support physical development and well-being.
Parent Involvement
We value strong communication with families and offer opportunities for parent engagement, including PTO, Policy Counsel, and Family Literacy Nights.
Safe & Nurturing Environment
Safety is a priority, with secure facilities and practices in place to ensure a healthy learning space. As part of that, Cardinal Preschool is DHS-licensed.
A Smooth Transition to Kindergarten at Cardinal
If your little one is joining us for Kindergarten, starting with preschool can help them get more comfortable at school before their elementary years begin. These are just a few of the benefits:
- Consistent Learning Environment: Preschoolers get used to Cardinal’s routines, expectations, and school culture, making the transition to Kindergarten feel natural and comfortable. From structured play to snack time and classroom transitions, preschoolers learn routines that mirror those in Kindergarten, reducing first-day jitters.
- Strong Relationships with Teachers & Staff: Early exposure to Cardinal’s educators and staff helps children develop trust and confidence in their learning environment.
- Confidence & Independence: By the time they start Kindergarten, Cardinal preschoolers already feel like part of the school community, making them more confident and eager to learn.
- Peer Connections: Many preschool classmates move up to Kindergarten together, so children start the year with familiar faces, easing social transitions.
