Julie Pitzl joins our team this year to teach 1st grade. A fellow Cardinal parent, we hope you will give her a warm welcome if you see her on campus! We asked her some questions so you could get to know her a bit before the school year begins.

Why did you want to teach at Cardinal?
My daughter started preschool at Cardinal and I instantly loved the friendliness of the staff and the atmosphere of the building. I knew I wanted to teach where I would feel valued, and I believe Cardinal holds this value.

How long have you been teaching?
Less than two years of classroom teaching but 12+ years working with children.

What do you like about teaching 1st grade?
I love this age because of their eagerness to learn and being able to help them on their journey to become strong learners.

What is your favorite part of teaching?
The relationships I form with my students and seeing them learn and grow.

What is your ultimate goal as a teacher?
To support my students so they know they are capable of anything they set their minds to.

What do you hope students take away from your class this year?
The skills they need to be successful in future grades but also to know that they can always come to me for support.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
I love crafting whether it’s painting, using my Cricut or making bracelets. I am originally from Iowa but attended middle school and high school in two different suburbs of Chicago. I have four kids, two step and two biological, so there is never a dull moment.
