Cardinal CSD 2nd Grade Teacher, Mrs. Brinkmeier

posted August 25, 2022

Holliey Brinkmeier is joining the Cardinal team to teach 2nd grade. We are so excited to have her teaching our students! We asked her some questions so you could get to know her a bit as the school year begins.

Why did you want to teach at Cardinal?
I’ve worked at Cardinal for several years. I started my career at Cardinal as a one-on-one, then became a preschool associate, followed by a district substitute teacher. I was then lucky enough to also get to do my student teaching at Cardinal.

I have two daughters that also attend Cardinal, and I could feel the caring nature of the school and employees whenever I went. When you can feel how much a place cares about your child, and can see people going above and beyond to make a difference in their lives, you know it’s a great place, and that is what originally led me to Cardinal.

How long have you been teaching?
This is my first year teaching.

What do you like about teaching 2nd grade?
I love how the students are still little and have such imagination yet are old enough to be able to have a good conversation with. I love the younger kids because you can still have fun with them and make them smile and laugh with the little things in life.

What is your favorite part of being a teacher?
The connections we get to make! I love when a student sees me and their face lights up, that tells me I’ve made an impact on their life.

What is your ultimate goal as a teacher?
I want to have an engaging classroom where students are able to express their ideas and build strong relationships with my students and peers, in order to provide the best education for each student need.

What do you hope students take away from your class this year?

A love for learning and feeling safe to be themselves.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
I am one of the lucky ones that got to marry my high school sweetheart, and we have two beautiful daughters. When I’m not in the classroom, I will most likely be on a volleyball court or a softball field, watching my girls play, or practicing with them, so they can get better. We have three dogs, but one of them I call my third daughter. I love crafting and baking in my free time. One thing I’m known for is my love for Disney. I love the messages the movies provide and the encouragement it gives to children. Oftentimes you may spot me in the halls with one of my several Disney dresses on!

My real endorsement of Cardinal Schools and its faculty and staff can be seen each morning when I hand them the one irreplaceable and most valuable thing in my life: my kids. No letter I write could be a greater endorsement than that simple act. I give them my kids, and I do it with a huge smile on my face because I trust them to do what they are most outstanding at: building our future.
