Cardinal CSD 3rd Grade Teacher, Miss Chickering

posted August 25, 2022

Dakota Chickering is joining the Cardinal team this year to teach 3rd grade. Be sure to welcome her if you see her on campus! We asked her some questions so you could get to know her a bit as the school year begins.

Why did you want to teach at Cardinal?
The family environment between all staff at Cardinal.

How long have you been teaching?
This will be my first year.

What do you like about teaching 3rd grade?
The students are old enough to carry on a good conversation with you.

What is your favorite part of being a teacher?
Building relationships with the students. A good relationship can form in such a short amount of time and just get better with more time.

What is your ultimate goal as a teacher?
To provide a safe place where students can come and learn and be themselves.

What do you hope students take away from your class this year?
That being a kind person is one of the most important things they can be.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
I went to Cardinal from preschool on and graduated there with the class of 2018! I love hiking and kayaking! I have one dog, a beagle named River.

My real endorsement of Cardinal Schools and its faculty and staff can be seen each morning when I hand them the one irreplaceable and most valuable thing in my life: my kids. No letter I write could be a greater endorsement than that simple act. I give them my kids, and I do it with a huge smile on my face because I trust them to do what they are most outstanding at: building our future.
