A huge welcome to Lisa Thompson who joins us to teach high school special education. We are so pleased she will be working with our students! We asked her some questions so you could get to know her a bit before the school year begins.

How long have you been teaching?
About 20 years.

Why did you want to teach at Cardinal?
I heard really good things about Cardinal in several conversations.

What do you like about the grades you teach?
I like this age because they are full of surprises.

What is your favorite part of teaching?
Being a part of something that makes a difference for individuals specifically and society in general.

What is your ultimate goal as a teacher?
To be the best teacher I can be.

What do you hope students take away from your class this year?
That they can. That they are worthwhile and wonderful and that they are capable of achievements they haven’t even thought of yet.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
My husband, Louis, and I just celebrated our 8th anniversary. Together, we have four children ranging in age from 24 to 35. They are awesome with a serious sprinkling of attitude.

We have four dogs — three are rescues and one is my son’s dog who came to live with us. They are all complete dorks! But we love them.

Louis and I love to ride our motorcycle. We’ve taken two long trips and are planning another — we just can’t decide which direction to go. On the weekends, it’s not unusual for us to just get on the bike and go, with no particular destination in mind.

I love to read and learn new things — my interests range from mystery to sci-fi to the esoteric. I try not to take myself too seriously and I love to laugh!

My real endorsement of Cardinal Schools and its faculty and staff can be seen each morning when I hand them the one irreplaceable and most valuable thing in my life: my kids. No letter I write could be a greater endorsement than that simple act. I give them my kids, and I do it with a huge smile on my face because I trust them to do what they are most outstanding at: building our future.
