A warm welcome to Megan Guest! Guest is joining our team to teach Vocal Music 5-12. We asked her some questions so you could get to know her a bit before the school year begins.

Why did you want to teach at Cardinal?
I am excited to teach a wide variety of music classes to a diverse age group. The people here have been so welcoming already, and I am excited to join the community. I think there will be so many opportunities for students to make music in the area and to bring joy to others while learning and developing new interpersonal skills.

How long have you been teaching?
One year, prior to this year.

What do you like about teaching vocal music?
I enjoy teaching students to read music — students always impress me with their progress. I also enjoy helping students learn to talk about their favorite music; as well as introducing them to a wide variety of music they don't already know.

What is your favorite part of being a teacher?
Building relationships and helping students grow as musicians and people. Seeing a student make a breakthrough of any kind in music makes my day better every time.

What is your ultimate goal as a teacher?
To build a community in the music program where students can be responsible leaders and cultivate teamwork in ensembles; as well as becoming role models for younger students.

What do you hope students take away from your class this year?
I hope that students will develop confidence in music which they can transfer to other areas of their lives.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
I have a black and orange cat named Callie.

From our first interaction with the staff at Cardinal schools, we felt at home. The entire staff is amazing and we feel that we have a trusted partner in our children’s education. The greatest testament to their success is that our kids love going to school. There is nothing more welcoming as a parent than to have a school that you trust to take care of the most precious thing in your life. Cardinal School District does just that.
