Communication

  1. The superintendent will communicate with the Board of Education, students, families and staff to provide updates on student programs and Return-to-Learn planning as frequently as necessary. Translation services will be provided as necessary.
    The superintendent will utilize:
    • Powerschool, Call-em-all, email, postal mail, and
    • District social media platforms
      • District website
      • Facebook
      • Twitter and
    • Recorded video messages, and
    • Local news organizations, and
    • Other communication methods as necessary.
  2. The District Return-to-Learn Plan will be reviewed every six months. The public is welcome to attend the board meeting where the plan is reviewed to give input during the public comment.
  3. If a change in district delivery model is to occur, the superintendent will develop communication and distribute through methods listed in Communication: 1.
  4. The District will support routine communication with parents and staff regarding steps the District is taking to promote health and safety of students and staff.

Health and Safety

Cardinal Community School District will continue to follow the guidance and directives of the Iowa Department of Public Health and State of Iowa. The district will also follow recommendations from the Iowa Department of Education to ensure ongoing workplace safety.

  • Environmental surface cleaning will continue to be emphasized. 
  • Classrooms will have access to hand sanitizer and appropriate cleaning supplies.  
  • Handwashing procedures posted in appropriate areas.
  • If a student or staff member is sick, they need to stay home until symptoms have improved and is fever-free for 24 hours without the assistance of fever-reducing medication.
  • Students and staff are encouraged to wear masks if they feel it is best for them. Masks will not be required in the district nor will masks be provided.

Equity

Special Education

We will provide services as outlined in each student’s IEP. Specially designed instruction, modifications, and accommodations as listed on Page F will be provided. Special education teacher will collaborate with general education teachers to make sure instruction, modifications and accommodations are being offered as stated in the IEP.

English Language Learners

We will provide opportunities to enrich and enhance ELL student language acquisition through teacher led support. We will collaborate with general education teacher to make sure instruction, modifications and accommodations are being offered. We will continue to distribute individualized language plans for students to general education teachers in order to ensure modifications and accommodations are adequate.
